Tribeca will kick off this year with Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In the Height”

The Tribeca Film Festival announced this Friday that it will open this year’s edition, in which it celebrates its 20th anniversary, with the long-awaited film “In The Heights,” an adaptation of what was the first musical that Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote. responsible for the successful “Hamilton”.

For the first time in the history of the New York festival, which this year will be held from June 9 to 20, the film will be screened on the first night of the show simultaneously in the five districts that make up the city, in several venues around the fresh air.

But the main event will be held at the “United Palace” in Washington Heights, in northern Manhattan, which also marks the world premiere of In the Heights full movie a film with a Latin flavor that revolves around life and concerns. of several characters who live in the New York neighborhood of Washington Heights, where Dominican immigrants are concentrated.

The film version of “In the Heights” has in its cast Anthony Ramos, Melissa Barrera, Corey Hawkins, Jimmy Smits, Dascha Polanco and Lin-Manuel Miranda, among others.

The premiere of the film, directed by Jon M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians”, 2019), is one of the great bets of the production company Warner Bros., but it was greatly affected by the pandemic.

Although in principle it was going to hit theaters in June 2020, that launch was suspended due to the coronavirus without a new date being reported at that time.

At the beginning of this year it was announced that it would finally hit theaters in June, although it was not until this Friday that it was revealed that it would premiere on June 9 and that it would have such a prominent role at the Film Festival of Tribeca.

After its presentation in the sample, “In The Heights” will be able to be seen from the 11 of June in the cinemas of the USA, and 31 days later in the platform of HBO Max.

So far, the Tribeca Film Festival has not yet announced which films will participate in the event, or which film will close this year’s edition, which takes place two months later than usual.

Like many other festivals, the one in Tribeca initially had to suspend the 2020 edition due to the coronavirus pandemic, which it later celebrated in the middle of the year in a completely digital format.
